Repairing Leaks FAQs
The problem can be solved by replacing parts, or in severe cases the entire body of the valve has to be replaced. This is something that should be done by a professional plumber, as we’re dealing with a pressurized system.
A whining sound coming from a faucet is usually caused by a loose washer. If there is not a loose washer, the problem is caused by air and the air needs to be pushed out of the pipes. Turn on the water faucet. While it’s on, turn off the main water valve. When the main water valve is turned back on, any air in the pipe will have been flushed out. If the whining continues the problem might lie with the valves under the sink.
To check this, turn the main water off and take the valves apart, check for any problem and then reassemble. If these steps don’t solve the problem, a professional plumber should be called.
Leaky faucets are another common household plumbing problem. Faucets are used multiple times a day and are exposed to significant wear and tear. When they break, sometimes there is an easy fix and other times you may need to replace the entire fixture. Whether it’s your kitchen or bathroom faucet or your shower head, Progressive Plumbing can repair or replace the fixture quickly.

As much as 150 gallons of water a day can be wasted due to a leak! Leaks may come from the faucet or from the pipes beneath the sink. If you notice a leak, call Progressive Plumbing right away. Never ignore a leaking faucet .
Faucet aerators conserve water and ensure an even flow. Annually remove and clean these screens to promote proper functioning.
